A client recently asked me to find some academic research to back up a grant request.  A  new museum educational program needed some credible support for its logic model. I tried Google, but quickly became frustrated by the thousands of junky links that popped up.  Then I tried my trusty network of knowledgeable friends.

A university professor soon directed me to Google Scholar, which turned out to be an amazing resource.

"Google Scholar, a service started late last year that's still in its testing phase, is the company's first foray into academic research...Within just a few months, Google Scholar has established itself as a rival to powerful multinational companies such as Thomson and Elsevier that offer huge (and, for libraries, hugely expensive) databases of scholarly material. "  University of Toronto Magazine.

I originally googled "Google Scholar" to find this resource, but you can easily locate it with the "More" button on the basic Google page. There you'll also find the growing list of services that Google is building, many of which probably have nonprofit applications as well.
